How OneRoad works

Your work diary, start to finish.

OneRoad records your work and rest as you drive — no paper, no counting hours in your head. Here is the whole loop, from setup to a roadside check, in five short stages.

01

Download & set up

A one-time setup links the app securely to you. You will need your licence details and a Record Keeper email.

1

Get the app

Search "OneRoad EWD" on the App Store or Google Play and install it, then open it to begin.

2

Verify your mobile

Tap "Continue with Mobile", enter your number, and type the 4-digit code sent by SMS.

3

Add your details & licence

Enter your name, date of birth and a backup email (verified by code), then your licence number, expiry, state and class.

4

Set your addresses & Record Keeper

Add your residential and home-base addresses, then the Record Keeper email your EWD records are linked to — this may be your manager, your company, or yourself.

5

Choose your fatigue scheme

Select Standard, BFM or AFM. For BFM or AFM, enter your accreditation number. Review everything and tap Confirm and Submit.

02

Start a shift

Tapping Start Work runs a short pre-drive sequence. It takes under a minute.

1

Tap "Start Work" & confirm your vehicle

From the home screen, tap Start Work, then confirm the vehicle you are driving or choose a different one.

2

Fitness for work & driving mode

Confirm you are fit to drive, then choose Solo or 2-Up (a two-driver team sharing a sleeper-berth vehicle).

3

Confirm scheme, odometer & sign

Confirm your fatigue scheme, enter the starting odometer, tick the daily declaration and sign with your finger.

4

You're ready to drive

A "You're ready to drive" confirmation appears and your Work Diary goes live. Your status shows as a colour band at the top of the screen.

03

Log work & rest

One tap switches between work and rest. The colour band tells you where you stand at a glance.

1

Tap to rest

When it is time for a break, tap "Tap here to rest". Confirm the start time and odometer — the Work timer stops and the Rest countdown begins.

2

Resume work

Once your required rest is complete, the band turns green (Rested). Tap Start Work to continue your shift.

3

Edit an entry if needed

Tap the pencil beside an event to adjust it, add a short reason for the change, then save — this keeps a valid compliance history.

The colour states

Blue
Working
Orange
Rest required soon
Red
In breach
Purple
Currently resting
Green
Fully rested
Stay out of the red.

When orange appears, take your rest and watch the countdown. Acting on orange is the difference between a quiet reminder and a recorded breach.

04

End your shift

Closing out takes a moment — and, like a paper diary, entries lock once submitted.

1

Tap "End Shift" & review

From the Work Diary tab, tap End Shift and check your start and end times, total work and rest, locations and odometer.

2

Make any last edits, then submit

Correct anything before you sign off — tap an event, edit it, add a comment. When it is right, tap Confirm Shift.

Once submitted, your EWD is locked

This complies with NHVR rules. If you need to fix something afterwards, contact your Record Keeper.

05

At a roadside check

Compliance View shows an authorised officer exactly what they can request — and nothing more.

1

Open Compliance View

Tap Compliance View from the home screen or profile menu. It displays your last 28 days in the official format.

2

Share records if asked

Tap the mail icon, enter the officer's or Record Keeper's email and a date range, and send a secure PDF. An officer can also add an annotation to your diary.
