OneRoad
Your Electronic Work Diary, end to end.
Everything you need to run the OneRoad EWD app with confidence — from first install to a roadside check. Work through it once at setup, then keep it handy as a reference.
What's inside
Download & install the app
The OneRoad EWD app is free on iOS and Android. Install it on the phone you carry in the cab.
Get the app
Search "OneRoad EWD" on the App Store (iOS 12 or later) or Google Play (Android 6.0 or later) and install it, then open it to begin.
New to OneRoad? Creating your driver account takes a few minutes and you only do it once. Have your driver licence handy.
Tap “Continue with Mobile”
On the splash screen, tap Continue with Mobile at the bottom.
Enter your mobile number
Type your Australian mobile number and tap Continue. A 4-digit code is sent by SMS.
Enter the SMS code
Type the code from your messages. If it does not arrive in 30 seconds, tap Resend.
Add your personal details
Enter your first name, last name and date of birth, tapping Continue after each.
Verify your email
Enter a valid email and tap Continue, then enter the 4-digit code sent to your inbox to confirm.
Select your role — Driver
When asked to choose a user type, select Driver. This sets your account up for EWD recording.
Enter your licence & addresses
Add your licence number, expiry, state and class, then your residential and home-base addresses and Record Keeper email. Review and confirm.
Already have an account? Signing in takes under a minute — there is no password.
Tap “Continue with Mobile”
On the splash screen, tap Continue with Mobile.
Enter your registered number
Type the mobile number linked to your account and tap Continue.
Enter your SMS code
A fresh 4-digit code is sent each time you sign in. Enter it to access your account.
Starting a shift
Start a shift before you drive. It runs a short pre-drive sequence and activates your work diary for the day.
Tap “Start Work” & confirm your vehicle
From the home screen tap Start Work, then confirm the vehicle you are driving or choose a different one.
Fitness for work & driving mode
Confirm you are fit to drive, then choose Solo or 2-Up (a two-driver team sharing a sleeper-berth vehicle).
Confirm your fatigue scheme
Check your active scheme — Standard, BFM or AFM — is correct before continuing.
Enter the odometer & sign
Enter the starting odometer reading, tick the daily declaration, and sign with your finger.
You’re ready to drive
A “You’re ready to drive” confirmation appears and your work diary goes live. Your status shows as a colour band at the top of the screen.
Logging work & rest
One tap switches between work and rest. The colour band tells you where you stand at a glance.
Tap to rest
When it is time for a break, tap “Tap here to rest”. Confirm the start time and odometer — the work timer stops and the rest countdown begins.
Resume work
Once your required rest is complete, the band turns green (Rested). Tap Start Work to continue.
Record all non-driving work
Loading, pre-trip checks and admin all count as Work — even out of the seat. Record them so your hours are accurate.
Edit an entry if needed
Tap the pencil beside an event to adjust it, add a short reason, then save — this keeps a valid compliance history.
When orange appears, take your rest and watch the countdown. Acting on orange is the difference between a quiet reminder and a recorded breach.
Two-up driving
Two-up lets two drivers share a vehicle and rotate work and rest under your fatigue scheme.
Choose 2-Up when starting your shift
Select 2-Up instead of Solo. The app pairs you with your co-driver and manages both work/rest states.
Pair with your co-driver
If they use OneRoad, a 2-Up code is sent for them to enter. If not, enter their name, licence, scheme and diary number to log them as a temporary second driver.
Rotate work and rest
Only one driver can work at a time. When one taps Rest, the other may work. Each driver sees their own diary and countdowns.
End independently
When the shift ends, each driver ends and submits their own diary.
Compliance & records
The app tracks your hours continuously and gives you a clean view for a roadside check.
Check your status anytime
Your live compliance status is on the home screen — time worked, time rested, and time until your next mandatory break.
Act immediately on a breach
If the app flags a breach, pull over safely and rest. The alert states exactly what rest is required. Do not keep driving — your fleet manager is notified automatically.
Show Compliance View at a check
Tap Compliance View to display your last 28 days in the official format. Tap the mail icon to send a secure PDF to an officer or your Record Keeper; an officer can add an annotation.
End your shift
Tap End Shift, review the summary, make any last edits, then Confirm. Once submitted, your EWD locks to comply with NHVR rules.
